Racing Flicka

Hello all,

Last week on Friday I entered my horse for a race at Pengakalan Chepa, Kelantan. Its my black horse named Flicka. She is a mare and now she is 5 years old. It was her first time participating in a race. It was not a grand race like Kentucky Derby or race in Penang Turf Club, it was a low cost kind of race organized by a few people. There is no betting and gambling. Just pay for the competition and race. If the horse wins, we got a small prize. But it was fun and exciting.

So this is how the race in here works. There is no barrel (place where the horse is put into at the starting line for the real race) so each person has to hold the horse at the starting line. When the whistle blows, the horses start running. The jockeys in here don't use saddle (its a seat mount on a horseback where the rider sit on it) and it became extremely difficult to balance on top of the horse. They want the horse to go maximum speed and they have to reduce the load on the horse by not using saddle.

Theres more I want to tell about the race but I don't want to waste my time. Now I'm just going to talk about my horse Flicka. I was not the rider, we get a jockey to ride her and its a surprise that she got second place out of 5 horses. And this is her first time racing. We did not gave her any special food or supplements to her before the race, we just gave her normal food. I am really proud of her and she looks relax after the race. Our jockey told us that he did not even whipped her because he thought she was injured. But actually shes not injured. So we got a small price for getting second. Don't expect a $16,000 price because I already told you this is a small race, a village race. It is fun to watch horse race here in Kelantan. Its different from the normal race we saw on TV which is really proper, fair and accurate race. Okay, I show some pictures. Sorry I can't upload the video of the race, maybe later cause now I had slow connection.

This is what we won for the second prize. We did not join the race for the price, we join for the fun of it.

First price got a bigger bike. But only two wheels. At least the second price got four wheels.

Well this blog is not only talk about horses, but recently I just happened to post stuff all about horses. Actually I use this blog to post anything, not only horses. Okay that's all, bye!

New year is near!

Hello,
Compared to the previous years, I felt this year come to an end very quickly. I didn't know what I have done in 2009. Since I joined my flying school in Kelantan in late 2008, the time gone so fast. Because everyday I went to school early in the morning and go back to my hostel in the evening and by doing it everyday, suddenly one month had gone. This makes the time fly so fast. Usually during Ramadhan month I felt the time goes by so slow to complete my fasting and I can feel the burden, but this year it was fast. I hope that next year it will be a good year for me and by February 2010 I will complete my ground school and I will start having "fun" flying. Sometimes its not gonna be fun if I get to fly with a fierce and strict instructor.

Now I have a lot of holiday but only for a short time :(. Like this week, I got 4 days off because of Awal Muharram. Next week I'm going to have another 3 days off because of Christmas and the week after, 3 days off for new year. In between the holidays I still have to go to school. Some of my batchmates took extra leave from christmas until new year. I don't think I will take that leave because my exam is near and I only studied a little. I thought that this weekend I will study alot but I only studied a little.
Last Thursday I had fun with my friends, went to beach and visits Bachok Buddha Statue. We only eat at the beach, not swimming because we didn't plan for it. We didn't plan to go anywhere but just drive around Kelantan in my Pajero.

Relaxing

Its so sad the day end so fast that day. Okay, I have to go clean my dishes now. Just now I bought fish curry from a restaurant and brought it home. The taste was delicious. See you soon. And you know what, my birthday is near. It is on the day after tomorrow. But I don't feel excited or anything. Alright, bye.

Time to relax...

Hello,

Last week I just finished my CAA 6 exam. I can relax now. The exam was alright but I still haven't got my result yet. I'm so scared now. Hopefully I pass the exam in one go. Or else I have to resit for the paper which cost RM900 each. But I'm thankful that I'm in UKCAA syllabus which consists of only 6 papers whereas my junior batch is going to sit for the new JAA syallabus which is harder and it consists of 21 papers. But its good for them because they will learn alot and they will be more knowledgeable pilot compared to us and that is what the airlines want. But eventhough I'm studying CAA, I still read alot of JAA books to increase my knowledge and I have interest in it.

Now I'm still in ground school studying another two final subjects which is Load & Balance and Aircraft Performance. I enjoyed Aircraft Performance classes because the subject is about DC-10 aircraft performance and it is one of my favourite aircraft. DC-10 is a commercial aircraft that has 3 engines. Two under the wings and one on the tail. After I finished studying these subject I'm going to sit for exam, and continue my flying phase until I graduate.

MAS DC-10, no more available now.

Okay enough of talking about school, now I'm in a holiday mood eventhough I still have classes to go. Yesterday I watched like 2 movies and today another two movies. Plus I play some computer games to relieve my exams stress. I can't wait to go back to KL next week. I'll be also renewing my medical certificate in KL. I'll not forget to eat at Carl's Junior when I'm in KL because here we don't have that restaurant in Kelantan. Oh, and I'm also going to watch movies, which is the thing I haven't do for a long time since I always stuck here studying in Kelantan and here there is no movie theater. Its a good thing though since I don't have distraction when I'm studying here.

Today I was so happy because I received a text message from my father that my sister had just delivered a baby boy this morning. I told my father whether is he cute or not and he answered he is cute like his sister, Dzahra. I can't wait to see the baby next week! Okay, that's all I want to talk about. I just feel like typing today, please mind my English in this post. I don't have time to check it. See ya!

Ramadhan Month

Hello everyone,

Tomorrow for muslims, we will start fasting. The time flies so fast because I really feel that the last Ramadhan was just like yesterday. I don't know how this month fasting going to be because this will be my first time to fast away from family since I am staying in my school hostel in Kelantan. I will not be going to Bazaar Ramadhan (Night Food Market) with my dad as I usually did last time. I have to accept any food for early break fast and cannot be choosy.

I have a lot of homework now. I don't mind getting homework on objective questions but now, my instructors keep on giving homework on presentations. I'm not so good at presentation. Eventhough if I prepared well and give a good presentation in front of my class, but when the part of questions and answers, I will get nervous and can't answer these questions. I have to improve on that. I still haven't finished my presentation slide and the deadline is near. My topic is rather difficult which is on Flight Management System for Instruments and Africa Climate for Meteorology. Also one more about Jet Streams.

Since its fasting month, I will have class only from 7am till 1.30pm 5 days a week. I think it will be less tiring than normal time which is from 8am till 5pm. Okay, I have to sleep now, tomorrow have to wake up early for early breakfast. See you soon.

Happy Fasting Month.

Fruit Season

Today at my dad's orchard, in Peringat, durians and rambutans are in season. I don't enjoy durian so I don't care whether its durian season or not. But my father enjoys eating them so much. Every now and then he will invite his friends to come over to his house and enjoy durians together. Now all the durians were eaten but theres more still on the tree waiting for them to ripe. My sister enjoys eating rambutan so much. She wants to bring back some to KL.

Fruits

Today it was raining heavily in the afternoon. My father's friend help to lunge my horse Flicka since its not nice to ride a horse when the soil is wet. Lungeing horse is an activity which we tied a long rope to the horse and make the horse run in circle while we hold the rope in the centre.

Now in my flying school I'm already fully grounded for CAA6. Its tired. Tomorrow I have to go to school. I like flying phase more than ground school. Duh, I think almost everyone prefer flying phase than ground school. Or maybe except for my housemate CK who said he likes ground school more. But so far I feel that learning CAA6 is interesting and fun although its kind of difficult. I don't know, maybe later on I will be so stressed when my exam is near. Okay I have nothing else to say. Bye.
